Important Update
For paramedic Education

The Letter of Review (LoR) for the Paramedic education program of American Safety Programs & Training, Inc. (ASPT)/Warren Fire Department Consortia for EMS has been revoked by the Committee on Accreditation of Educational Programs for the EMS Professions (CoAEMSP) as of December 22, 2025.

Accreditation is the process of formal evaluation of an educational program, institution, or system against defined standards by an external body for the purposes of quality assurance and enhancement.

To achieve accreditation, a paramedic education program must comply with the CAAHEP Standards and Guidelines. The CoAEMSP LoR process is the official designation that a Paramedic program is in the process of “becoming accredited.”

Key facts for Paramedic students at ASPT / Warren Fire:

For students currently enrolled:

  • The program is working to develop and offer a teach-out plan for Paramedic students currently receiving instruction. A teach-out plan is a formal, written agreement with the accreditor that explains how students may be able to finish their program at ASPT / Warren Fire and/or transfer completed educational content to another program in order to graduate with minimal disruption and no loss of academic value.

  • The program may offer assistance to current students in transferring to another program.

  • Students currently receiving instruction remain eligible for National Registry examination and certification pending successful completion of their Paramedic education program.

For future students: the program no longer has the CoAEMSP Letter of Review, indicating it is not progressing toward CAAHEP accreditation, and enrolling new students in its Paramedic education program will not be eligible for the National

Registry examination. Students must have begun their course work prior to December 22, 2025, in order to be considered currently enrolled.

For graduates: any student who graduates from a program that holds, or held an LoR, anytime during that student’s enrollment will be considered eligible for the NREMT Paramedic Examination. So, any student enrolled prior to December 22, 2025, will be eligible to take the NREMT exam.
