EMT Advanced vs EMT Advanced Cardiac - Is there a difference?
-
Yes, there is a difference. In Rhode Island, Advanced/Cardiac level EMTs practice with extended skills that are taught in addition to the National Advanced EMT curriculum. These skills include: Intraosseous cannulation, Endotracheal Intubation, and an expanded pharmacological scope. This allows the EMT to hold a certification called "EMT Advanced/Cardiac", which is recognized only in Rhode Island.

Curriculum Structure
-
Self-Paced Online Didactic: Flexible, self-directed modules covering advanced theoretical concepts, allowing you to master the coursework on your schedule.
-
In-Person Psychomotor Labs: Intensive, hands-on clinical sessions held locally. You will master critical interventions including Endotracheal Intubation, Intraosseous (IO) cannulation, and advanced EKG interpretation.

The Rhode Island Advantage Train to a higher standard. This curriculum encompasses Rhode Island-exclusive extended skills and an expanded pharmacological scope that exceeds standard National AEMT requirements.
