The ACLS Instructor Course is designed for healthcare professionals who wish to become certified to teach AHA Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) courses through an authorized AHA Training Center.
This course prepares instructor candidates to effectively teach ACLS content, manage advanced simulation-based scenarios, and conduct courses in compliance with current AHA guidelines and Training Center policies.
Course Components:
The ACLS Instructor Course consists of two required parts:
ACLS Instructor Essentials Online Course (emailed to you by American Safety Programs & Training 1-2 weeks prior to the course date and completed independently)
In-Person ACLS Instructor Course conducted by our AHA Training Center Faculty
Both components must be successfully completed to earn ACLS Instructor certification.
Prerequisites:
To enroll in the ACLS Instructor Course, participants must:
Hold a current AHA ACLS Provider certification

Hold a current AHA BLS Provider certification
If you need to renew your BLS Provider Card, please see a list of our upcoming classes through the following link: BLS Provider Course.
Complete the AHA ACLS Instructor Essentials Online Course prior to the in-person session
Be at least 18 years of age
Be an active healthcare provider with experience in ACLS-level patient care
Demonstrate strong communication and leadership skills
Proof of all prerequisites is required prior to course attendance.
What You’ll Learn:
Participants will learn how to:
Teach ACLS courses using AHA-approved curriculum and lesson plans
Facilitate and debrief advanced cardiac arrest and peri-arrest scenarios
Evaluate student performance and provide constructive feedback
Apply AHA policies, procedures, and Training Center expectations
Manage course documentation and instructor responsibilities
After the Course:
After successful completion, instructor candidates must:
Align with our AHA Training Center
Complete your instructor shadow(s) at American Safety Programs & Training with a Training Center Faculty member
Maintain active instructor status by teaching courses and keeping all required certifications current in accordance with AHA guidelines
Important Notes:
This course does not renew ACLS or BLS Provider certifications.
Instructor candidates are responsible for purchasing required AHA instructor materials.
ACLS Instructor certification is issued through the American Heart Association and maintained through an authorized Training Center.
